Surveys. Every single day, 57 percent of Web users search the
Internet, making search the second most popular Internet activity
after e-mail (according to Statistical Research, Inc.).

ads by more than two to one on measures including awareness, likelihood
to click-on, and overall opinion in a recent survey. The survey
also found that consumers are five times more likely to purchase
your products after seeing search listings versus banners. Search

engines and online directories but there are really only about
15 that are the most important. These include AltaVista, AOL Search,
Excite, Google, InfoSeek, Lycos, Inktomi, MSN, Northern Light,
Snap, Yahoo and DMOZ. If your site is listed in the top 100 on
several of those search engines for targeted keywords then your
site should be very productive. The difficulty is that there are
millions of web sites vying for those top positions.
