We have seen some very sophisticated spam recently which purports to be
from the mohawk staff. These spam in various forms all have the trait
that they say 'please open the attached file and follow the
instructions.'
*** DO NOT OPEN ANY EMAIL FROM MOHAWK WHICH ASKS YOU TO OPEN A FILE

Mohawk policy is ALWAYS to send notices in plain text only and to post all
such notices on the web site for those customers who do not use our mail
system or who would prefer to read our notices as postings rather than as
email.
Known fraudulent subject lines are...
' *WARNING* Your email account will be closed '
' *DETECTED* Online User Violation '
All Mohawk advisory messages have the subject line...
' Mohawk User Advisory, [ comment ] '
Any message claiming to be from Mohawk staff in any way, especially if
it
contains any attachment *SHOULD BE DELETE WITHOUT OPENING*. Our new
spam
gateway does not see these as spam, and whatever (if any) virus they
may
contain is not so recognized. These spam may be just sneaky and not
really bad. Nevertheless, we are trying to track down their source and
eliminate them as soon as possible.
