Here is an easy way to changer your login name and/or dial-up
number.
Open Internet Explorer. (also works on Netscape.)
You can do this *without* being online. You will eventually get the
message 'Page can not be displayed'. Ignor this silly remark. We know
the page can not be displayed because you are not online!
Working 'OFF-LINE'...
Click on "Tools".
Click on "Internet Options".
Click on the tab at the top that says "Connections".
Click on the button at the right side that says "Settings".
At the bottom of this screen you will see your user name.
Verify that the user name ends with ' @mohawk.net ' (with no spaces or
quotes.)
Then click on the "properties" button.
Here you will see the telephone number.
Change that to a current number.
(Use 789-4001 for Amenia, NY)
(Use 318 0071 for Cornwall, CT)
You may need to re-enter your password as well.
When done. keep clicking [ok] at the bottom till all the
screens are gone.
Go ahead and log on. But immediately go to ...
www.mohawk.net
and to the 'How to Guide' to check to see if there is a current number
which is better for you if you do not live in Amenia or Cornwall.
Select a V92 line you know is in your local dial area.
*** YOU MUST DETERMINE FOR YOURSELF THAT THE NUMBER IS LOCAL ***
Mohawk can not take responsibility for use of an incorrect number
resulting in toll charges.
